Drying beer spent grain can be feed

Recently, the price of feed raw material has been increasing, resulting in a substantial increase in feed costs. Beer spent grain, also brewery waste, is the main by-product of the beer industry. As the survey shown, every 1t beer produced produces about 1/4t of beer. The annual production of beer in China has reached more than 10 million T, and is still increasing. Beer is rich in protein, amino acids and trace elements, can be used as a new type of feed raw materials. Usually, beer spent grain’s water content is about 80%, therefore, it must be dried for deep processing.

Generally, spent grain is drying by the following steps:
 

Sieving Dehydration, by vertical sieving, the moisture content can reduce to 70%;

Extrusion Dehydration, use a filter press or spiral extruder for extrusion dehydration, reduce to 60%;

Drying, use the drum dryer for drying, after which the moisture content can reduce to 15%;

Cooling.
